Ah, coolness. You cook by a formula method. i think this is a very useful way to cook. [:)]
Especially if you have to allow for dietary adaptations.
i've seen recipe junkies that are lost without their cardstock. The recipe is law.[:D]

i am trying to be openminded about recipes i see on Pinterest. But, i do groan if i see Velveeta listed as an ingredient.

One of the sites i like is Taste of Home. They have an Advanced Search that allows you to enter some ingredients that you want to use and some other choices (meal type, cuisine, number of servings, etc.) Then it displays recipes that fit.

What is velveeta?

I like to use recipies as a base, not a law. If I taste it and think it needs more of x, I will add more. Just that I don't really have enough experience baking to be able to come up with something from scratch. Cooking, I tend towards just adding things that I like, no recipe at all. I love adding things from the garden to pasta, though now there isn't anything fresh to grab.

Velveeta is a slimy, processed cheese product that comes in a rectangular box.

FelineFae -> RE: The Last One to Post, WINs Part II (12/4/2012 4:52:36 PM)

Based on observation, taste, and texture, i think Velveeta is what you get on top of chicken stock ( the result of boiling bones and organs ) if you place it in the 'fridge and let the fat rise and solidify, then pressed into a block mold and packaged in foil.

i do not believe it was ever meant as a food. Perhaps, there was some lessez faire oversight in reguards to of its advertised usage. i'm guessing it was perhaps a lubricant or less toxic wood polish that someone's dog ate and when the animal didn't die, it's taste deficient owner went to see why the dog aquired such fixation.

This is just my theory.

lovethyself, baking (cakes or breads) is chemistry in food preparation. Some of the ingredients must occur in certain ratios when the product is to rise - salt, baking soda, baking powder, yeast, etc. Other ingredients may vary - chocolate chips, spices, carrots, raisins, etc.

Cooking (stews or casseroles) is easier because most ingredients can be increased or decreased or left out entirely.

That's funny, fae!

FelineFae -> RE: The Last One to Post, WINs Part II (12/4/2012 5:01:54 PM)

[:)]

i think it might be the U.S. equivilent to Australia's Vegemite, though less nutritous.

lovethyself -> RE: The Last One to Post, WINs Part II (12/4/2012 5:02:39 PM)

Um, I don't think I've ever come across velveeta up here in Canada. Sounds 'interesting'.... *backs away slowly*

Fluffy, I get the difference. I just don't get much opportunity to cook/bake much, so when I do I tend to do the sweets. Hence the recipe. Oh, and I'm a picky eater, so when I cook, I don't use things that I don't eat. That's when you get to be inventive with what you do add.

FelineFae -> RE: The Last One to Post, WINs Part II (12/4/2012 5:29:18 PM)

Your blissful ignorance of Velveeta has earned Canada another merit in my eyes.

Okay, i see what i wrote, and understand that it potentially could be taken in the wrong spirit. i trust you'll understand how i mean it and shall post it anyways. [;)]

Evil, thy name is Kraft .

If you mean that Canada is better, then I'll have to agree. We are pretty awesome up here.

*sighs*

Alas, Chaos seems pretty attached to our land in the Ozarks.[:)]

11AM, still waiting for the movers. Just recalled that in my *nest there are some grease boards that needed to be hidden due to their content.
i was starting an idea for some tattoo flash trying to mix the intensity of tribal art with the romance of Art **Nevoux ( i told you i can't spell ).
Anyways this lead me to a theory... that once expressed via mostly fae's quasi-math'ish formulas still needs to be hidden from the Nationals that have stricter policies about porn'.

*nest = A lesser bedroom devouted to fae's studies and monthly moon retreat away from Master bedroom.
** nouveau = There, i looked it up.

fluffypet67 -> RE: The Last One to Post, WINs Part II (12/4/2012 7:35:16 PM)

Is your stuff there yet, fae?

lovethyself -> RE: The Last One to Post, WINs Part II (12/5/2012 7:50:35 PM)

Yes Fae, has your stuff come in yet?

fluffypet67 -> RE: The Last One to Post, WINs Part II (12/6/2012 11:59:16 AM)

No answer from fae. My guess is that her stuff arrived and she is busy distributing it throughout her house.

FelineFae -> RE: The Last One to Post, WINs Part II (12/7/2012 2:19:05 PM)

Stuff came... the stuff that should be in a storage cell in the States, yeah, it came.
80% of the stuff that should have came, well, i am really hoping it's in said storage cell so we'll be reunited apon return to the States.

Then we spend 4hr on bus driving through snow to go see BabyCatcher Barbie... [:'(]
She says she's not comfortable [won't perscribe] giving Endometriosis patients anything more than Naproxen !!! ((( Not like Codiene isn't a text book treatment for Endo' related pain[8|] )))
We were told to make an appointment with Pain Management. Oh, but that isn't quite what you think it is. That office doesn't give meds or other treatments for pain, they just report to other dr.s if a treatment is or is not being helpful to the patient. Then we got to spend 5hrs on the bus, as the snow was now deeper, to get back to our home filled with meaningful but somewhat unuseful clutter.

Oh, and BabyCatcherBarbie want's to use conservative hormone theraphies to treat my Endo'. Idiot !!!!! i've been there and done that on five separate occasions. At best, it never help. At worst, it caused horrible extra problems and the side effects were merciless.

When a fertility challenged patient with Endo desires pregnancy, you make sure the womb/ repro' tract can handle it, then you write an itty bitty script for Clomid. You get an established record that the patient is ovulating on a reasonable cycle, and you go from there. So... doesn't it seem just a little IDIOTIC to put said patient onto a birth control treatments, especially when the patients has a bad history on those treatments!?!

FelineFae -> RE: The Last One to Post, WINs Part II (12/7/2012 2:32:33 PM)

So, how shall i handle this little struggle in my faerytale ? Creatively, of course.

Until we can get my insurance changed over so i can see a National doctor, i'm seeing Drs. Jim, Jack, and Morgan for temporary pain management. They're not my first choice, but they do yeild results.
Then I'll try my luck on the local economy. Daegu has several womens' health clinics in good or better standing.

And we'll try and make do with what we've got here. i have been called resourceful in this lifetime. We did get our bed, tv, and microwave, so that's very good. And i now have an excuse to buy more clothing.

fluffypet67 -> RE: The Last One to Post, WINs Part II (12/7/2012 7:37:36 PM)

fae, i am so sorry you are facing medical issues. {{{HUGS}}}
