Like others here, I see a difference between cheekiness and bratty behavior and SAM behavior.

I like the intelligence behind good-natured cheekiness...which I consider respectful while still being playful... and I appreciate a good laugh or being caught at my own, occasional high-handedness through a remark that brings me down to earth in a good way.  I don't appreciate bratty or SAM behavior deliberately acted out in order to try and provoke me into doing something that, if you ask nicely, I just might do anyway.

I can be a real smart ass - and sometimes it gets me a smarting ass     -   and since i am fairly circumspect about how and when i do it - it is usually a funishment.

Smartass is my favorite pet name!  *lol*  I'm only in trouble when Daddy uses my real name.  For some reason, it sounds like a "bad word" when he says it....*ggls*

Like someone else said, there is a difference in being "cheeky" and humorous or in teasing and being playful, and in being downright rude and disrespectful.

So many Mistresses talk of how they dont want a doormat for a sub. So it kind of got me thinking would it be more attractive if a sub was lippy cheeky and gave backchat. Some of the more elder Mistresses will be appalled at the temerity of such a suggestion. But the younger folk 18-40 do you like a sub who is a little brattty bolshy and inclined to answer you back from time to time. How do you find such behaviour. Do you accept it for what it is a sub just testing the waters or is it completely out of line for you for a sub to be bratty. Apologies to the over 45s but in general this genre of Mistress i find is more traditional wishes to be treated with great respect etc etc, more into protocol than the under 40s who tend to be more relaxed about the respect thing, thats my view anyway, i d be interested to hear others

Cheekiness is always acceptable. I'm definitely a smart ass!

whew...just made the age cut off....lol

I think there is a time and place for everything.  I don't mind a little back and forth teasing every now and then...but if I am in the middle of training, making a point about something important or punishment...wouldn't be advisible....lol

My girl is a bit cheeky at times but not inappropriately so. It doesn't bother me at all because I know she still respects and listens to me. She's only cheeky in a "little girl" way and definitely knows the line between that and being a "smartass" or a "brat."

Cheeky: Impertinently bold; impudent and saucy.

If she doesn't have some cheekiness in her, we may never get along. Besides, I love it when a "cheeky", little lady is laid across my lap and it's my turn to be "cheeky" (OK, I love a woman's ass to play with).

I like my submissives to be human.  After awhile they learn when it's appropriate and when not.

I have a pretty healthy sense of humor, I can be that kind of cheeky, Master likes it. If cheekiness referred to being disrespectful he'd hate it.

I love a sassmonkey!  I do NOT love a brat.  Big difference between being teased, and being treated disrespectfully.

As an elder, I have little to no problem with cheeky if its well-done and well-timed

Cheeky =   schooled at a time convenient to me.
Doormat = shooting fish in barrel.
Brat = I had one. Got tired of the power struggle. Brat gone now.

For me, this "cheekiness" you speak of may have it's place without an established dynamic and not before.

Some folks have told me that Fox is "uppity" -- I think he's Fox and that's his personality. Of course what those folks seem to be referring to is the fact that he has his own voice and such a limited view of what a slave should be places them out of my line of interest almost immediately.

Those people would die if they saw us being silly and loving at home.

I've posted many times that I prefer a fun-loving sub with a bit of mischief about her - which would equate to *occasional* brattiness, yes. (gasp!!!)  And usually when I post such words, some one-dimensional fool interprets that as  meaning I'm tolerant of incorrible brats who top from the bottom blah... blah... freakin' blah....  lol

Fact is I have a robust and often dark sense of humour (NO tolerance of "practical" jokes but...), which means I prefer a partner who knows how to laugh and generally enjoy life, too.  That can make for some interesting times within a power exchange dynamic and that fun-loving sub can get carried away with the mood of the moment.  Which is quite ok until I deem enough is enough and "pull the reins" and then I expect her to respond as she's been taught.

The girl cannot get into trouble for being a little cheeky or mischievous (when it's just us) but she certainly can for not recognising my tone and demeanour (esp "the stare") etc when she's gone too far.

Focus.

'Tis indeed a rare occasion when Focus50 makes a post which I agree with in its entirety and this is one such occasion. Perhaps this is because Australians have in the past been noted for being Larikens and have had a tendency to mock authority.  For me there is always a time and place for such brattiness and when done in house I enjoy playing along, giving as much as I get. Personally I find it helps to reinforce  humanity and that laughter is one of the greatest gifts we have (along with sex). Howewver I too have a lack of humour when cheekiness is taken too far and warnings are ignored. I do not suffer those who repeatedly go from brat to rude..

Well, they say that 50 is the new 40 so I guess I slide into that younger crowd in a round about way. At my house? You're not going to survive unless you're a smartass.... lol

As my nic suggests I love a partner that has a since of cheeky and fun. I would die of boredom if it was any other way! The key is knowing when it is fun and when to stop and thats a fine line.
